This week’s Illustration Friday prompt was jump. I was going to just repost my lovely swimmer children. But, then I decided to do a little more. For those of you who saw the work in progress sketches for these two, you might remember that these were not created for the same scene. But I decided to change that and combine them into one scene formatted for a magazine cover. So, I added a background and mocked up graphics for a Highlights Magazine. So, here’s the plain image and the Highlights mock-up below. Let me know what you think.
I am not in any way affiliated with Highlights Magazine and this is not a real Highlights cover. Only an art sample.
Fantastic!
Love it!
looks great
That is fabulous! What a fun cover it would make!
Looks good. The cover design works well. The blue color shape goes well with the light blue of the water.
I’m glad you liked it. I looked at several Highlights magazines to figure out how they did their covers. The Highlights logo with the red background is standard, but the shape along the left side varies in color to coordinate with the cover art. So, that’s what I did.
Now, if this were a real cover, you’d have headings and little pictures on that left shape for the featured stories and such. But I didn’t bother including that. I figured this was enough to show the idea.
What happy adorable kids! Nicely done and great scenery, too. Love the hands and feet.
Thank you. For some unaccountable reason, I love drawing bare feet. They’re just so much fun, but I don’t know why. 🙂
FUN!!! Love the expressions and action! And I agree—great hands & feet!!!! It looks great as a cover!
Lovely work, makes a great cover. Hands and feet are not easy to draw– beautifully done! : )
Thank you! I love drawing bare feet. I actually have more trouble drawing shoes than feet most of the time. All feet follow the same basic pattern, but shoes are fashion. They all look different. 🙂
