Fixing your Cintiq

Today my Wacom Cintiq stopped recognizing my stylus.  It was working fine, then it stopped. This happens occasionally and usually I just reboot. That works, but I have to close out of everything to do that, which I don’t always want to do. Well, today I decided to do the smart thing and search the web for the right way to make my cintiq behave itself. So, a quick google search came up with the following video that completely solved my problem. It was so useful that I wanted to share it with you all.

(I’m working on a Window’s 7 laptop.)

Summary:

  1. Try turning the cintiq off and back on.  (That didn’t work for me.)
  2. Right-click on “Computer” on your desktop or (for me) your start menu.  Select “Manage”.  Then double-click “Services and Applications”, then “Services”.  Scroll down to “Wacom Professional Services” and click that.   Look around.  On the left there’s a link for Restarting the service.  Click that.  Now, if it’s like mine, it’ll be fixed.  🙂

Good luck!  And thank you, shermtv, for your useful video!

Katie’s Monkey

Here’s the finished image.  I was playing with different ways to do cartoony jungle tree trunks and branches.  smiley 15

Katie’s Monkey

Here’s a work in progress for a personal project I’m working on. My daughter wanted a poster of a monkey swinging by its tail from a tree with a banana. I’ve just about got the monkey done, next to tackle the scenery.  I’m working in Illustrator because I’m not sure how big she’s going to want me to print it.  Vector graphics are infinitely scaleable, unlike raster art.  Monkey for Katie

Selling Stuff

Will Draw for Money 150 hI’d like to mention, because I haven’t lately, that I do sell prints and print rights to most of my work.

zazzle shop 200I sell custom-printed merchandise and prints through Zazzle. I just finished a large update, so that’s up-to-date now. I only bothered with posters for most of the latest stuff, but if you’d like to see any of my work on a mug or a T-shirt or anything else Zazzle offers, just let me know and I’ll be happy to set it up for you.

istock iconI also sell limited, non-exclusive print rights for most of my images through iStock.

Dolores UmbridgeBree NewsomeThere are a few pieces I have which Zazzle and iStock won’t allow for various reasons. Like my Harry Potter illustration or my Bree Newsome tribute. If you’d like prints of one of those, or if you’d like to purchase anything directly from me, feel free to contact me and we can arrange that.

The third edition of my book, The Squishy, Stinky Diaper, is available through Amazon. Both in print and for the kindle. If you purchase a paperback, be sure it’s the third edition. The old one’s out of print now, but it’s still around. The illustrations are much better in the new one. Also, I don’t get any royalties on used book sales.

Also, as usual, I am accepting commissions and I’d love to work with you on your next project! smiley 15

Third Edition up on Amazon

Print
The new edition of The Squishy, Stinky Diaper is up on Amazon now.  It’s available in print and for the kindle and features all new illustrations.  I’m really proud of how it turned out.

Summary:
The story is familiar to every toddler. Baby’s diaper must be changed, but she doesn’t want to cooperate. With patience, love, and good humor, Mommy gets her through it.

I’m working on getting it up for the nook too, but their interface is being difficult.  It’s not on Barnes & Noble in print yet either, but it should be eventually.

In the meantime, if you want a PDF or epub copy for your non-kindle eReader, contact me and I’ll sell it to you directly.
