Boy Leaning on Windowsill

Here’s a recent commission for rap artist, David Smith, who goes by the stage name Dave 3X3. This image is to be used for an upcoming album cover. He was wonderful to work with.

Good luck to you, Dave!

This image (above) was based on an earlier image (below) from 2013 with the same character. You’ll notice these aren’t drawn in my typical style. The first was one of my experiments, playing with different ideas. Then I matched the style (and refined it just a little) for the new commission. I like playing with different ideas, and sometimes they even lead to new opportunities.

And always, I am accepting commissions!

Children Running and Other Symbols

I recently completed illustrating a page with several simple images for United Methodist Publishing House.  I think the images are referring to Christian missions to Africa, but I didn’t ask.  The numbers and letters were done with my Big Bottom Cartoon font, which can be found here as a freebie.

Candy Cane Hearts

Double Heart Candy Canes 500

I think this will be next year’s Christmas card.  I was playing with HDR again.  Real HDR, not HDR-style.  The image didn’t really need HDR, but… eh.  I like how it turned out, though I haven’t printed it, so it may need some adjustments still.

I love the spot healing brush tool in Photoshop, because after several days, the snow I used wasn’t perfectly clean. Also, when you set a candy cane in the snow, it starts bleeding red into the snow.  So, I had to correct that as well.

And here’s another one.
