SCBWI Postcard Contest

I entered four designs into the SCBWI Postcard contest back in November.  Here’s a link to a gallery displaying all the entries from the SCBWI artists who competed.  http://scbwicontestentriesgallery.blogspot.com/

My second kite-themed entry for the SCBWI Postcard Illustration Contest.

A delighted boy is carried aloft by his kite while his mother chases behind in a panic.

Tree and Kite

The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) is having a Postcard Illustration Contest.  I created some images for the competition.  They are supposed to be kite-themed.  Here’s the first one.

A five frame comic book page telling the story of a tree and a kite. A kite is abandoned, stuck in the limbs of a tree. The tree notices it and shakes it loose. Then it picks it up and flies it. This makes the tree happy.

Blown Covers Design Competion: My entry for the Trayvon Martin theme

This is my entry for this week’s Blown Cover design competition.  The contest asks for a sketched design idea for a New Yorker cover using that week’s theme.  The theme was Trayvon Martin.  Mine didn’t win, but I thought I’d share it anyway.

Edit:  The finished version is here.
