Here’s the completed image. It was designed as a full spread. That means nothing important in the way of the center fold. Also, not much is happening on that right side because it would have a fade over most of that half with text overlaid.
The fourth and final kite-themed image for the SCBWI Postcard Illustration Contest.
Here’s a spot illustration I did for the August issue of 435 Magazine. It goes with an article about an art fair at the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City. The image in the frame is one of the iconic plaza buildings.

Five Flags Theatre Building in Dubuque, IA.
It’s just a really ornate, interesting-looking building, I thought.
Perspective on something geometric, like a building, is much easier to do than perspective on something organic, like people. So, this was a challenge. I’m not 100% happy with it, but I’m sharing anyway. Enjoy.
I don’t know why, but I’m really proud of that contrail. That came out well, I think.
