Blown Covers Design Competion: My entry for the Trayvon Martin theme

This is my entry for this week’s Blown Cover design competition.  The contest asks for a sketched design idea for a New Yorker cover using that week’s theme.  The theme was Trayvon Martin.  Mine didn’t win, but I thought I’d share it anyway.

Edit:  The finished version is here.

Illustration Friday: Intention

Okay, this is an old one.  I’m reposting it for this week’s Illustration Friday theme.  I thought it worked really well for it.  The inspiration for this was the line from Toy Story where one of the toys (was it the piggy bank or Mr. Potato Head?) says “Humpty Dumpty was pushed.”

Cute Little Devil

This is the cutest evil thing you’ve seen all day!

Illustration Friday: Suspense

Illustration Friday: Silent – Image 2

Yesterday’s illustration was kind of scary.  I think I was still thinking about the chain gang I did last week for stripes.  So, I felt like I wanted to do something friendlier.  So, here’s Litte Bo Peep.

“Shhh!  She’ll never find us!”

Illustration Friday: Stripes – Image 1

Here’s an old photograph of mine for stripes.  This was taken just before they tore down the old barbershop in my hometown.  I used real black and white film and printed it myself in a darkroom.  It’s pretty old and has picked up some scratches and things. So, sorry about it’s condition.

I may put up an actual drawn-for-this-prompt illustration later this week.  I just wanted to give you all something in case I didn’t get around to drawing something new for you.  🙂

Simple 4-leaf Clover

And I put it on Zazzle.

Red Heart

A simple heart made as a vector graphic.

After creating it, I wanted to do something with it.  So, I made a bunch of Zazzle products with it.  Very standard stuff, though.  Nothing particularly creative.  http://www.zazzle.com/karenbjones/gifts?cg=196685932380770297&rf=238012402087377203&st=date_created#products
