Playing with Corel Paint Lite Today

I got a copy of Corel Paint Lite because I had heard good things about Corel Paint 12 but I’m not willing to shell out the money if it overlaps the features of Adobe Photoshop CS5 (which I already have) by too much. The lite version is to Painter 12 like Photoshop Elements is to Photoshop, I think. It doesn’t have the number of brushes that Painter 12 is supposed to have, but it does have some useful ones. I played with it this afternoon just to get the feel for it and I think I’ll have legitimate uses for it on future projects. It’ll be useful when I’m not quite getting the right painterly feel that I want from Photoshop, for example. Like Sketchbook Pro, I’ll use it as a supplement for Photoshop. Conveniently, you can save files in psd format, so you can go between Photoshop and Paint fairly easily.

I made this image in Corel Paint Lite. But it’s pretty boring and unimpressive, so I covered it in text.

If you don’t see the image, it means your browser doesn’t support background images in tables. You didn’t miss much.
