Grass Dancer Boy

I recently completed a commission for an illustration of a little indigenous boy performing as a grass dancer. The client advised me on what details to include to make him look authentic, since she is indigenous and I am not. She wanted it to match that illustration I made a few years ago of a girl in a jingle dress.

A line drawing of an indigenous boy performing as a grass dancer. His traditional regalia has a bear motif and V-shaped stripes.

I wasn’t sure if I’d get to it this week, but I did.  Here’s an illustration drawn just for this week’s prompt.  I hope you like it.

Here’s an old photograph of mine for stripes.  This was taken just before they tore down the old barbershop in my hometown.  I used real black and white film and printed it myself in a darkroom.  It’s pretty old and has picked up some scratches and things. So, sorry about it’s condition.

I may put up an actual drawn-for-this-prompt illustration later this week.  I just wanted to give you all something in case I didn’t get around to drawing something new for you.  🙂
