Monsters Go – Lily N.

Today I participated in the Monsters Go illustration prompt. That’s where professional illustrators recreate monsters drawn by children.

This week’s art was by a kid named Lily N. Here was her drawing:

A child's crayon drawing of a monster by kid artist Lily N. It's a purple monster with a lot of eyes, blue feet, and turquoise shaggy things in it's hands.

And here’s my version of it:

My version of the many-eyed monster from the previous drawing in a professional style. I interpreted the shaggy things to be some furry things it's juggling. They also have eyes.

Poker Snake

Here’s a snake playing cards. No idea why I drew this, really.

Inktober 2020 #6 – Rodent

Beavers are rodents, which is today’s prompt. This one plays hockey. I think he’s Canadian. Because it makes sense to me that a hockey playing beaver would be Canadian.  He plays for team Rodent.  My youngest says she thinks he plays defense.  I asked her why and she said, “He just does.”

Inktober 2020 #4 – Radio

Today’s prompt was radio, so these two aliens are groov’in to earth music in their flying saucer.

My Brother – In Color

I colored an old sketch of my brother.  Now, you may think this is an insulting picture because of the foolish expression he’s wearing, but it isn’t.  This is my brother making silly faces for his nieces.  This is my brother being awesome.  Love you, Eric.

Spotted Cerberus

So, this was originally a Inktober piece and was done in just a couple of hours.  I drew him as a black lab puppy.  But, that decision has bugged me because Cerberus is supposed to mean spotted.  Which I knew, but didn’t think of it at the time.  I really should have made him a dalmatian or other spotted breed.  So, today I had reason to go back to this image and so, while I was there, I decided to fix it.

So, here’s Cerberus, the spotted three-headed hound of Hades.

Robots in a Bookshop Cafe

Here’s a silly picture of robots reading in a bookshop cafe.  I liked the idea of something so digital-age as a robot doing something so analog as reading from a paper book.

It was fun to design all the different kinds of robots.  I almost drew it with all sorts of movie/TV robots instead.  You know, brainbots, cybermen,  C-3PO, Wall-E, etc.  But I think I had more fun making up my own.

Not sure if you can tell at this resolution, but this cafe serves oil, batteries, memory sticks, CD’s, and the odd bit of hardware as robot snacks.

You ordered an adventure?

This is an illustration inspired by a mini-story posted by A Small Fiction.  Here’s the link to where I found it:  https://www.facebook…

The story went like this:

A dragon was at her door.

“You ordered and adventure?” it said.  It handed her a sword.

“Now what?”

“The tip.”

She poked it.

“You win!”

They have a bunch of small stories like this.  They’re fun.  Check out their page for more.

Anyway, here’s my illustration of it:

Donkey ROTFL

Laughing Donkey

Cartoon of a braying jackass. Literally rolling on the floor laughing.

There are plenty of perfectly nice donkeys in
the world, but this guy is a braying jackass.
