Siren

Fresh from the ocean.

A cute cartoon siren lays on the ground with her cheek cupped in one hand and tail raised to curl behind her. She is smiling slightly. She is wet. Her black hair is plastered to her head and body, the ends pooling on the ground at her side. There is a puddle around her. As a siren, the lower half of her body is a fish tail, and her skin and scales are blue. As a cartoon, she has a small body and huge head with disproportionately large eyes. She is isolated on a pink background.

Floating Mermaid

Here’s a mermaid I drew while procrastinating.

A mermaid floats in water with only her face above the surface. Under her, a school of fish swims by.

Inktober 2020 #27 – Music

Siren song counts as music, right? I hope so, but really… I just felt like drawing a mermaid. 🙂

It seems like every time I draw water, I do it differently. This style seems pretty good for mid-ocean swells.

A mermaid floats in the ocean in the foreground. Under the water, you can see her fishtail. She is singing. In the distance is a sailing ship. It's nighttime and a full moon is in the sky. The image is a black and white ink drawing.

This was a tremendously fun project to do.  The theme, Explore the Unknown, was meant to refer to all sorts of fun cryptozoological, mythical, and sci-fi subjects.  Included in this piece is a UFO with Roswell-style aliens, a unicorn, a big foot, the Loch Ness Monster, a kraken, and a mermaid.  The font is Black Pearl by JoannaVu.

Mermaid – Corrected

Okay, those waves were really bugging me.  So I tried again.  Much better now, I think.  🙂

Mermaid

I was playing with image composition and lighting.  Not entirely happy with the waves, but a fun image to draw.  🙂
