Menno Media Series

Scenes from the Life of Jesus Christ
Image 9 of 9

This is the last image from a short series for Menno Media for their Shine curriculum. This is in the morning by the Sea of Galilee. After Jesus had helped his disciples catch a miraculously large haul of fish (153 of them!) they roasted some and lounged around on the beach eating a breakfast of bread and fish.

An outdoor scene set in biblical times. Jesus is sitting with three other men on the beach eating a meal of fish and bread. One man is skewering the fish for roasting over a fire while the other two chat with Jesus. There are baskets overflowing with fish in the foreground, way more fish than they can possibly eat. In the background you can see a boat floating on the sea with distant hills and a seagull in the sky.

Scenes from the Life of Jesus Christ
Image 6 of 9

Here’s another sad one. Image six of nine in a short series for Menno Media for their Shine curriculum shows the preparation of Jesus’ body after his crucifixion. The men are Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus.

An outdoor scene set in biblical times. In front of an open tomb lies Jesus' dead body on a blanket. Two sad men kneel beside it, preparing the body for burial. One is preparing the winding cloths while the other is washing a foot. Three empty crosses can be seen on a hill in the distance.

The Neighborhood’s Night – Page 9

Here’s the 7th illustration for the book project I just finished for Learning A-Z. Page 9 of The Neighborhood’s Night by Juliana Catherine.

Here Leena’s family is getting settled a bit when a family they’re friends with shows up. The woman, Saanvi, is wearing a sari because I’ve seen Indian women in my neighborhood wear these, but I’ve never actually drawn one. So, when the client said they wanted me to make her Indian, I decided to go ahead and give her this traditional outfit while I was at it. It was fun to draw. I kept the decorative pattern really simple, though, because I didn’t want her clothes to have way more detail than the clothes of the other characters in the story so that it looked inconsistent. I do hope I drew it right.

It just occurred to me that I don’t think I drew anyone with glasses on in this story. I should have done that. Oh well. Mental note to self to put some glasses in the drawings for my next project, if possible.
