Sports Logo Sketches

October 8, 2021October 8, 20212 Comments

Radio silence on here usually means I’m busy working on something. This time I’m illustrating a picture book for Entrepreneur Media Inc. The story is about two kids’ basketball teams, the Jack Rabbits and the Sea Turtles. Sports teams always need logos, so here’s a little sneak peek of that detail.

Sketches of sports team logos created for Entrepreneur Media Inc.

Little Bunny

August 9, 2013January 13, 2024Leave a comment

Little Bunny logo created by Karen B. Jones for Lydia Page.I made this one recently for a woman named Lydia Page in Reading, U.K.  It’s to be the logo for her new baby gifts store named Little Bunny.  She bought all rights, but I do have permission to show it off here on the blog.  Please respect her copyright.

The font is Fredericka the Great and she wanted something in the style of an image I created awhile ago named Hug Bunny.

If you’re in the market for a logo for your company, or any other commission, I’d be happy to work with you.  Just contact me with the details.

What You Can Do JUST With Fonts

December 11, 2010May 14, 2012Leave a comment

A friend of mine was playing with designs for her website.  She’s considering the name Lady Wolfstorm Web Design.  In the course of some suggestions I gave her on things she might try, I played with some fonts to come up with some text-based logo ideas.  I thought I’d share them here.

All these designs were done with free fonts available online and I did not manipulate them at all.  I just made them different font sizes and arranged them in different positions in Photoshop.  No warping or retouching.  I’m hoping my friend, who does know her way around Photoshop, can create her own text logo that projects the exact image she wants to show.

I wish her the best of luck with her design.  I’m sure she’ll come up with something good.

Designing My New Logo

September 28, 2010May 14, 20121 Comment

I’m designing a new logo for myself.  I’ll print off business cards, promotional materials, and redesign my website around it sometime soon.  But first, I needed the logo.

This is what I came up with.  I may still fiddle with it a bit, but that’s basically it.

I thought I’d post my sketches for this design, for anyone who’s interested in my process.

Here’s my first sketch.

This was my brainstorming sketch. I had an idea of what I wanted to do, but wasn’t quite sure how to accomplish it yet.

You can see the very first, rough attempt in the middle. Then a more detailed, refined sketch on the left. That was way too detailed for a logo, so I simplified that on the top right. Since the simplified version eliminated the little girl, I sketched out another idea with the girls on the floor drawing.

This one is almost the finished form. I wasn’t happy with one of the curls in the hair, though. So, I added a few curls to experiment with.  You might note that the final version incorporated some of these curls.

This is very close to the final version of the girls. As you can see, I didn’t like the paper on the floor and made a couple of extra attempts at it.

Then I just played with positions and fonts to come up with the finished logo.
