Baby Coloring on Newspaper

Here’s one of today’s illustrations.

Did Anyone Catch My Mistake?

Alright, I made a mistake on my last illustration.  The one I posted yesterday.  Did you catch it?  I did and it’s been bugging me.

Her palette.  I drew it completely wrong.  That’s not the proper shape or the proper way to hold a paint palette.  My mistake came from trying to draw something when I wasn’t sure what it actually looked like.  Although I do paint and have used acrylics (but not oils) I’ve never used the traditional shaped paint palette.  Mostly I used paper plates.  So, I didn’t know how you actually hold one.  After I drew it, I knew that the little girl’s palette didn’t look right, but I wasn’t sure why.

So I looked it up online.  Isn’t the internet great?  And, sure enough, I had it all wrong.  For your information, the following is an illustration of the approximate shape of an artist’s palette and how you hold it.

And here is the corrected illustration.

I feel much better now.

Tween Painter

Here’s my second in a series of illustrations depicting tween issues and activities.  Here’s a tween oil painter.  I haven’t put it up on the website yet, so this is a bit of a sneak peek.

Doing Submissions…

I’m taking time out from actual art work to send out submissions and promos.  Always a tedious task, but necessary.  Unfortunately, “If you make it they will buy.” does not apply.

Yesterday I filled out a bunch of promo postcards and today I’m sending emails to art reps.  I need an art rep.

I’m directing everyone to my portfolio here:  http://www.karenbjones.com/index.php?id=54

21 Free Bumper Sticker Designs

I now have 21 free bumper sticker designs on my website.  I just finished adding a bunch and updating the old ones a bit.  They’re all designed to promote responsible driving by encouraging people not to use their cell phones while driving. This is an issue I feel very strongly about.  No conversation is worth someone’s life.

They’re sized for printing as bumper stickers at VistaPrint, but you can use them however you like.  They’re free for personal use.  Enjoy.

Free Coloring Page – Croc on Beach

Aliyah, a fan who saw a previous post on this blog, requested “a cartoony crocodile lying on a river bank.”  I’m not sure if this is exactly what she meant, but here it is.

Finished Huffing and Puffing

The missing panel in my three little pigs series is now finished.  It’s the huffing and puffing scene where the first little pig’s straw house is blown away.  It can be found in the portfolio on my website here:  http://www.karenbjones.com/index.php?id=186

What I’m working on now

Today I’m working on the missing panel in my 3 little pigs series.  I’ve posted a version of it in progress on the website here:  http://www.karenbjones.com/index.php?id=186

Free Coloring Pages!

I’m helping out at my daughter’s school for the Fall (Halloween) Party.  One of the things we needed were some pumpkin pictures to cut out and make jack-o-lanterns with.  So, I volunteered to handle that one.

I posted the finished drawings on my website.  They’re available for personal or classroom use to anyone who wants them.

Enjoy!

Website Officially DONE!

Officially DONE with the website. All the code works. All the links are as they should be. I’ll still periodically add, edit, and remove content, of course, but the site itself is done!

If you want to take a look, it’s here:  http://www.karenbjones.com

Now I can get back to writing and illustration work.
