Here’s former US President Barack Obama in a tan suit. I drew this as part of a larger project for Learning A-Z.

You might remember that there was a brief, silly controversy about President Obama wearing this tan suit because on a slow news day some people thought it did not look presidential. Originally, this illustration had him in a black suit, but the client was concerned that the project had too many historic figures in dark suits already. They wanted a little more variety, which was somewhat challenging since men’s formalwear is not really particularly varied. But then I remembered the silliness about the tan suit and I thought this would be the perfect solution. More about President Obama can be found here.

A cartoon illustration of Barack Obama, isolated on white. He is wearing a tan suit, white dress shirt, gray and tan striped tie, gold wristwatch, and black dress shoes. He is standing with his arms crossed.

The image is watermarked with the artist's logo and a line of text noting the client's copyright as, "Copyright (c) 2022 Learning A-Z. All rights reserved."

Political Cartoon – The 2012 Presidential Debate – Round One

I love our president and I’m voting for him.  But geez…  Not the best performance in the debates despite Romney giving him SO many openings.

Political Cartoon: Biden’s Gaffs

This is an all-purpose cartoon suitable for any gaff Joe Biden might make during his tenure as Vice President. Not really very funny.  Mostly I just wanted to try to draw him. Conclusion: I can’t draw Joe Biden. He isn’t interesting in any way, shape, or form. There’s nothing to characature. He just comes out as a generic, white, old guy. *sigh*

I actually searched the web for cartoons of him and you know what? No one knows how to draw him. If the cartoonist tends to give his characters big chins, Biden gets a big chin.  If they usually give their characters a big nose, he gets a big nose.  But none of the cartoons really look like him like they usually do with other celebs.  Even the big-name political cartoonists just come up with something that looks like a generic, white, old guy.

Anyhow, here’s my attempt:

Stolen Bumper Sticker

Someone pulled a bumper sticker off my car while it was in a parking lot.  How rude!  However, I’m not sure it had the effect that the person intended.

As you may have guessed, it was a political bumper sticker.  Nothing offensive. It was just an old Obama 2008 sticker.

See what you made me buy, Mr. Bumper Sticker Thief?

I can only assume that some conservative Republican pulled it off because they don’t like Obama.  But let’s think about this for a minute.  If you pull a bumper sticker off my car, then I have to replace it.  In the case of an Obama sticker, that means paying Obama’s campaign fund to send me a new one.  Which means that, because of this person’s actions, I just donated five dollars to Obama’s re-election campaign which I otherwise would not have.  I can only speculate that this was not the result that this person was going for.

As a side note, I also had a Darwin fish magnet on my car which they didn’t even touch, which puzzles me.  I always thought that was far more offensive than the Obama one.  After all, the campaign sticker just supports the Democratic candidate.  The Darwin fish insults Creationists.

People are strange.
