Inktober: Rising Dead

Rising Dead

Inktober #8

It had a tombstone in the image, so I had to figure out something to write on it.  I had to give her a name. So, I called her Carrie Ann Black. Carrie Ann.  Carrion. Get it? I always thought Carrie Ann would be a great name for a ghoul. And Black because Death was named Black in Meet Joe Black.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF
CARRIE ANN BLACK
BELOVED WIFE
AND
MOTHER

FEBRUARY 14, 1983
OCTOBER 31, 2016

She was so beloved, she was even born on Valentine’s Day. And her death was such a horror, it had to happen on Halloween.

I’m not sure if she’s a zombie or a vampire.  Some sort of undead, surely.  She looks rather un-rotted for a zombie, but maybe she was just well-embalmed.  I dunno.

I wonder if Mr. Black will be pleased to have her back?

Katie thinks maybe her husband is Death, like in the movie, so he wouldn’t mind her being dead. She’s very optimistic.

Inktober: Zombie Children

Zombie Children

Inktober #7
So… I was trying zombies again.  This time I was going for cute.  Not sure if zombies can actually be cute.  But the girl does look happy, at least.

Inktober: Ghost

Ghost

Inktober #6.

I think maybe this ghost isn’t quite as scary as it thinks it is.

Inktober: Zombie

Zombie Woman

Inktober #5

This one’s a lot ickier than I usually draw.  But it’s a zombie.  They’re inherently pretty icky.  I think I’ll have to do something cute for tomorrow to wash the zombie stink off my stylus.

Inktober: Grandmother Witch

Grandmother Witch

Here’s an inktober piece.  I don’t think I’ll be doing the full challenge.  I don’t have time to do one every day, but I will try to do several throughout the month.

shutterstock

shutterstock-235I just put a bunch of my illustrations up on shutterstock. My initial impression is that I like the contributer interface better than istock. It’s easier to upload, you get approval much faster, and they don’t penalize you if it takes a few tries to get an image into acceptable form. Also, they accept editorial illustrations, unlike istock. That means I can use them to sell limited rights to any of my political cartoons that have caricatures of famous people in them. Their payment threshold of $35 with PayPal is also lower than istock’s. I’m not sure how their royalty rates compare yet.

Check it out and let me know what you think.
